My busy busy week

Thursday February 12,2009
I had a most eventful day today. I filed out an application for employment with the 911 dispatcher. I had to go in yesterday morning to do the test for the position.
That test was quite long. There was a spelling test, a hearing test to see if a person can hear two things at once and write them down. There was also a test where you had to give directions from point “A” to point “B”. There was also a part about reading comprehension.
Then came the typing test. I never did do well in typing fast. I did 24 WPM with 96% accuracy. The real draw back is that the test was done on a laptop and not on a regular keyboard. The lady who gave the testing said that they would take into consideration that I haven’t used a laptop until just very recently.
When all the testing was done we were then taken to the dispatch room. I never saw so many computers in front of one person in my life. 5 screens with 2 keyboards and 4 or 5 mouse. It was so neat.
The biggest drawback is that there were 15 people testing for only 2 positions. If I am called back then it would be something. I know I did a good job. I did my best and that is all that mattered. I know that some people did a lot better than I did on the typing but when it comes to reading a map I know that I did VERY well there.
I went yesterday (2-24-09) for an interview with a panel of 4. It was pretty good. I mean I feel good about it. They asked me all sorts of questions and I answered as honestly as I could to them all. I was told that if I pass this interview then I would be called back for a final interview on Friday (the 27th) with the Director. As of right now (time is 9:15am) I have not been called back. But that is ok too.
One of the questions that was asked of me is ….”What would be the hardest thing for you should you be hired?” My response was,” Not seeing my children after school everyday.” That is the hardest thing I could think of. I have been home with them all the time. I love seeing my kids after school and asking them how their day was. It is good bonding time. They are all doing great in school and I want to keep it that way.
WELL...today I recieved a very nice rejection letter in the mail. I didn't get the job. It is for the best and God knows what He is doing.
